Clicks Namibia grooming future leaders
Training and development programmes play a crucial role in enhancing employee skills, boosting productivity, fostering innovation and maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
Clicks Namibia, operating 24 stores across the country, has restarted its annual trainee store manager programme in collaboration with the Business School of Excellence (BSE). This programme is designed to develop aspiring managers from various regions, including the coastal, northern, southern and central areas of Namibia.
Having kicked off on 4 July at BSE in Windhoek, the programme extends over several months. During this period, trainees complete four in-depth modules that combine both theoretical and practical elements to provide a comprehensive strategic education aimed to improve customer service.
Country manager Corne Visser highlighted the programme’s importance for fostering a positive company culture. "Creating a healthy organisational culture is vital, and providing the necessary support to achieve this is crucial".
A distinctive feature of the programme is the requirement for attendees to maintain a file of evidence, containing all assessments and serving as a tool to track and evaluate progress. Trainees also return to their respective branches for three-week intervals to apply their newly acquired skills in real-world settings.
BSE has designed the programme to be user-friendly and relevant to actual workplace scenarios. It includes elements such as investigation, planning and customer care, which are critical for the diverse challenges that store managers face.
Fully funded by Clicks Namibia, the programme is accredited, providing formal recognition from both Clicks Namibia and BSE upon completion.
Participants have expressed appreciation for the opportunity. Trainee Petrina Angula from Clicks Windhoek noted: "This programme has greatly enhanced my knowledge in customer service, communication and business management".
Paul Eskain Adunge from Clicks Keetmanshoop added that the opportunity allows him to improve his skills and contribute more effectively to the company.
