Appointed on 1 June, Moné Juling assumed the position of human capital business partner at Old Mutual Namibia. She embarked on her human resources career in 2018 and obtained her BCom degree in HR Management in 2022. Juling admits that working with different people has been challenging, but over time, it has become easier. She believes that meeting all demands and ensuring satisfaction is undoubtedly a great challenge, but it also presents opportunities for learning and growth.

Enhancing skills

Juling began her career without any related experience.

"The opportunity arose, and I was instantly passionate about HR. You could almost say that the path chose me," she said.

Working with people, being involved with the growth and development of employees, providing an empathetic ear, and motivating employees gives her great pleasure to provide satisfactory services.

Juling looks forward to gaining exposure to the corporate environment, learning the ways of the company, and finding new ways to enhance and improve them.

"I would like to enhance my current skills and gain more exposure to strategic planning. Not all people learn or think the same; therefore, good observation and understanding are key. Others’ opinions matter, and it’s important to always consider them," she said.

She aims to fulfil her duties and considers meeting her requirements as key to her work. Additionally, she says that to become part of the team, continuous growth and development are important, and she is always up for a new challenge.

"I usually measure success through the reaction of the customer served. I am also very deadline-focused. I always remind myself that if it was too easy, there might be something wrong. The satisfaction of finalising a project or task and knowing I did my best gives me great pleasure," she said.

Lessons

Juling advises that it is important to take in everything and always be willing to learn. She says one should be humble and work hard, and it will pay off someday.

In her free time, Juling enjoys cuddling up with her cat, watching The Office, or going on adventures with her camera.
