Pursuing true Beauty
The future is female
Christel-Ann Rautenbach is a local entrepreneur, mother and founder of Pursuing True Beauty.
She was born and raised in the beautiful coastal town of Swakopmund. Alongside her partner, they are the senior pastors of a ministry in Swakopmund - Kingdom Gateway Swakopmund. “We are also in business together. I am the founder of Vintage Rose Namibia where I operate as a photographer.”
In school, her peers would always talk about life after school and studying and as for her, she knew what she wanted to become. “A ‘pronounced’ nail technician. My journey started immediately in that industry as I continually advanced my abilities with the latest training skills offered at Bio Sculpture Namibia,” she says.
Almost 15 years ago when she became born again, she discovered a whole lot about herself. “I realised that I have a purpose in the earth and whatever I would do, God would sustain it by His grace.” She discovered during the ten years as a nail technician that she loves women, she adds.
The start of it all
At the end of 2019, her time as a nail technician was done and it was time for her to expand her boundaries. The moment her nail career ended, is when Pursuing True Beauty started.
Pursuing True Beauty is a platform where she gets to encourage women, build their faith, and inform them about their true identity and how worthy they are in the sight of God.
She has hosted numerous events with a promising turnup of women. “This year I am more intentional and I plan to host my first women's conference.”
When Covid happened, she started a business making hair accessories known as ‘Hair Adornments by Pursuing True Beauty’. “I remember making 50 fabric facial masks a day, with no sewing experience,” Rautenbach says.
A month into lockdown she launched Hair Adornments, which celebrated two years in business on 28 April 2022. “The Hair Adornments have connected me to women as far as Oranjemund. For as long as I can remember, I have always been attracted to beautiful things, anything in pink,” she adds.
Hair Adornments by Pursuing True Beauty is an online shop based in Swakopmund. When time allows, she will launch a new product every month-end. All her products are 100% handmade and she strives to use the best available fabrics to promote sustainable, healthy and affordable products.
With her self-taught ability to sew she pushed herself to the brim when she made a self-love gift box in February which includes a beautiful apron, personalised with your name on it.
“I don’t ‘just make’ products, I make them with a message. I have a beautiful box available for Mother’s Day and a few new products such as beaded name necklaces, giant scrunchies and satin pillowcases.
“I believe that we all have a gift inside of us, we only need to discover it. My whole life is a story which I now use to encourage others, and so is yours,” she concludes.
