Swiftly moving up the career ladder
Having been part of the Stanlib Namibia family for four years, Monica Ambondo, a Stanlib business development assistant, says her passion for work, a healthy work environment, and the opportunities on offer, keep her grounded.
Ambondo matriculated at Concordia College in Windhoek and continued her education at the University of Namibia (Unam), where she obtained an honours degree in economics, which she describes as one of her biggest achievements to date.
After obtaining her qualification, she began her career as a financial adviser and later joined Stanlib.
With patience, and an eagerness to learn, she moved up the career ladder from her first position as a receptionist to that of client service consultant, and then to her current position as a business development assistant.
Game plan
Joining the company and showcasing her skill and passion for the job, Ambondo has a plan set out to continue learning while scooping rewards.
"My plan is to grow in the business development team and one day become the manager," she said.
Of her current position, which she described as one of the best phases of her career to date, she said "I am taking it with everything I can offer, because now I can finally make that time to study and have the opportunity to grow."
Her job entails assisting both the business development manager and business development consultant with administration work, travel arrangements, and setting up meetings with prospective and existing clients.
Among her work highlights are opportunities to meet people, learning about other companies and businesses, and travel.
"My work responsibilities allow me to fill most of the administrative requirements and duties of the business development team. In addition, my responsibilities also fall within the retail space in terms of client, service agent, broker, and corporate bank engagements for sales of products and client retention. I also fill the gap in coordinating marketing events and activities," she said.
