A trip to Bombay or a Mexican Fiesta
An alternative to conventional dining is themed cooking classes
Cooking classes make for an enjoyable bonding time with friends and family, or a unique way to celebrate a special occasion like a birthday, kitchen tea or anniversary. These classes are offered by The Purple Fig Cooking School that also trains chefs and offers other cooking courses, including pastry classes, an artisanal bread-baking course and much more.
Online cooking classes:
During lockdown, Purple Fig rose to the occasion by offering online cooking classes, with students from as far afield as Walvis Bay and even Gauteng attending the online cooking courses for children.
Social cooking classes:
Ingredients are included in the price and once the meals have been prepared, the cooking group can sit and enjoy the meal they made together. There are exciting upcoming themes to choose from and the next cooking class will be a Lebanese evening. Other interesting themes to choose from are a chocolate and red wine pairing evening, learning the art of craft sausage making, a culinary trip to Bombay or discovering why Peruvian food is the best in the world.
Cooking classes for children:
Purple Fig also offers gingerbread classes for children aged six years and older during the holidays where they can learn how to make interesting treats such gingerbread houses or gingerbread men.
Upcoming food and wine pairing evening:
There are only 30 tickets available for this elaborate event that takes place at the school on 24 July. Guests will be treated to a 5-course meal with profits in aid of the student’s year-end examinations.
