Adding value

Stephany Amon is a shining example of how women can play a role in the ICT department. She is a warranty engineer at Green Enterprise Solutions, tasked with handling all IBM and Lenovo warranty claims. She also stands in when it comes to in-house support calls and is part of the team that offers warranty support.
“Don't let anyone tell you it's impossible,” is a phrase that Amon not only strongly reiterates but is one that she lives and personifies. She believes that a person's way of thinking has the ability to make or break them.
“Your limits are your mindset,” she states, advising young girls to not give in to the limitations set by other people.
Having joined Green Enterprise Solutions as an intern, this marks the third year that Amon has been part of the team, whereas in the ICT industry, she has been an active contributor for four years.
“I have always been a problem solver and a technology enthusiast. This made it very easy to move into the ICT industry,” she says. She believes that the possibilities are endless for young women.
In the 21st century, sadly gender stereotypes are still prevalent, but she has not allowed that to stand in her way.
“Sometimes your ability is doubted or questioned, hence you don't always get the same opportunities,” she says.
But nevertheless, women are taking the ICT industry by storm and Amon stands firm in her belief that “ability should not be restricted to gender” and that if somebody shows capability for a particular job, they should be awarded or hired on that merit.
She loves the fact that her career allows her to find modern-day solutions to technological problems and to add value to the establishment that she works for.
At home, Amon is a family-oriented person who enjoys cooking and travelling.
