Africa Commercial Vehicles inaugurated its new Iveco dealership premises in Windhoek on Thursday, 11 October 2018.

The keynote speaker was Cedric Limbo, senior official in the ministry of works and transport, on behalf of transport minister John Mutorwa.

He said in the current tough economic climate it is even more important for the public and private sectors to support each other in the interest of future growth and prosperity.

“One of our national strategic objectives is for Namibia to become a logistical corridor into Africa. Commercial vehicle dealerships like Africa Commercial Vehicles play a crucial role in supporting the transport sector in achieving this goal,” said Limbo.

Africa Commercial Vehicles has been a sales, service and parts Iveco dealer in Windhoek since 1995 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Blaauw’s Holdings, established in 1961.

With over 40 years of success and 150 years of experience, Iveco is an international leader in the development, manufacturing, marketing and servicing of a vast range of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles.

Global Titan, local touch

Today Iveco has production plants in Europe, China, Australia, Brazil and Africa and has business facilities in over 160 countries.

Recognising the commercial importance of Southern Africa, Iveco is present in South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Republic of Mauritius, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

In 2014 the assembly of Iveco vehicles started at the Rosslyn plant in the Gauteng province of South Africa. Iveco and the Iveco Bus brands have established production lines for medium, heavy-duty and extra-heavy-duty trucks as well as front-engine and low-floor city buses.

The plant utilises top-level technologies and manufacturing methods to provide to every customer with vehicles of high quality. As a result, all the plants have obtained ISO 9001 – vision 2000 (quality management by process) and ISO 1400 (environmental management) certification.

“At Africa Commercial Vehicles in Windhoek, we are focused on strengthening customer relationships with an acute focus on our service and parts customers by listening to our customers’ needs and tailoring solutions for their business needs,” says Jano van Wyk, general manager of Africa Commercial Vehicles.

With that in mind, the new Iveco Daily has been adapted for Namibian terrain. With a suspension lift, higher ground clearance and specialised off-road tyres, this gravel-road-tested vehicle can reach any destination with ease.

This same off-road conversion can be used on all of the Iveco Daily vans.

New to the market is the new Iveco Daily 35S15V9 panel van. What makes it stand out is that it only requires a standard Code 8 / Code B driver’s licence. This vehicle can be converted into a 14-seater or a luxury 10-seater bus.

Quality products, service and expertise

“Another key building block in our customer relations is that we are driven to service vehicles and provide Iveco genuine parts at the best price, ensuring customers have their vehicles back on the road as soon as possible.

“Our 24 hour, 365 days a year breakdown service is another key element we use to ensure constant uptime for customers. Going forward we will continue to use the open communication channels throughout the dealer network provided by Iveco South Africa, keeping to the basics with the same vision and goals in mind,” Van Wyk said.

“At Africa Commercial Vehicles our approach is as Sir Richard Branson said: ‘Take care of your employees and they will take care of your customers’.

“Training and developing staff into leaders instead of managers is key to our employee investment. Individuals across all levels are regularly sent to Iveco based in South Africa for technical, product and skills training to ensure we live up to our client promise at all times: ‘Committed to deliver the best service with genuine Iveco parts’,” he added.

Africa Commercial Vehicles has authorised repairers throughout Namibia and Iveco South Africa has a 24-hour call centre along with Iveco dealers throughout the SADC region.

“Africa Commercial Vehicles is committed to community involvement and supporting various projects to really make a difference in line with our mission: ‘We Change Lives’.

“We are dedicated to long-term relationships with our customers to the benefit of their organisation and invite you to partner with us. Africa Commercial Vehicles also offers trade-ins and full maintenance contracts,” Van Wyk said.
