Bikers gear up for Klein-Aus Vista

Avid mountain bikers look forward to yet another exciting expedition once the Standard Bank Klein-Aus Mountain Bike Challenge kicks off at the end of this month.The much anticipated cycling endurance race scheduled from Saturday 29 April until Monday 1 May will be held in three stages in the rocky Klein-Aus Vista bushveld in the south of the country, known for its mountain bike and hiking trail expeditions.This gruelling three-day race will thoroughly test the strength of its participants physically and mentally. There are various categories for men, women and juniors so the whole family can participate. The races range from the half-marathon (33 km and 33 km on the second and third days) or the full three-day marathon (12 km time trial, 60 km, 60 km).Standard Bank has long committed itself towards the development of various sports in the country through sponsorships. As such, the bank has once again sponsored the Standard Bank Klein-Aus Vista Mountain Bike Challenge with an impressive N$70 000 this year.Standard Bank’s acting Head of Marketing, Sigrid Tjijorokisa said: “As a financial institution we understand the importance sport plays in the physical well-being of those taking part and at the same time brings communities together to enjoy this adrenaline pumping sports event.“For most mountain biking enthusiasts this is not only an adventure, but also a great way to keep fit.
