CAN reaches out to Walvisbay

The Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN) recently held outreach screenings at the coast.

Rolf Hansen, CEO of CAN, said: “Sister Christy, Rolf and Estelle of the Cancer Association of Namibia on Saturday visited Walvisbay in the Erongo region, where 114 ladies were screened for cervical and breast cancer, while 40 men were screened for prostate and testicular cancer. This is all done free of charge, through the National Cancer Outreach Programme.

"The campaign targets both the corporate environment and local communities alike – offering access to information and medical care where often there is none readily available. This is how we help our fellow Namibians.”

“FNB Namibia supports the great work of the Cancer Association of Namibia and as such would like to encourage everyone who would like to help CAN make more of a difference to visit the FNB Happiness Store and donate any amount to the Cancer Association of Namibia, which is listed as a beneficiary under charities. Visit the Happiness Store at www.fnbhappinessstore.com," said Elzita Beukes, communications manager of FNB Namibia.

This programme was initiated in August 2015 and the Cancer Association of Namibia has developed a nationwide network of partnerships with private medical centres, State care facilities and volunteers to develop a programme where awareness campaigns, educational talks, and screening sessions for breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, are conducted.
