Caterplus & Silverspoon Hospitality Academy announce strategic partnership

Henriette Lamprecht
A two-year partnership agreement was signed between Caterplus Namibia (Pty) LTD and Namibia’s premier hospitality academy, Silverspoon.
The agreement was signed and sealed at a launch event hosted at Silverspoon Hospitality Academy’s premises at the Old Power Station Centre, Windhoek. In attendance were South African food product suppliers, local clients and industry players within the food services industry.
Tom Mutavdzic, Managing Director of Silverspoon Hospitality Academy and Henry Feris, Managing Director of Taeuber & Corrssen (Pty) Ltd, (the holding company of Caterplus) officially announced the strategic partnership. The partnership is aimed at driving value addition and offering the Namibian market with enhanced products and services under one roof.
Caterplus, a food distribution company based in Namibia, in partnership with Silverspoon will render a comprehensive service/product offering to the market ranging from product preparations/recipes, product launches, food expo’s, training, cooking competitions, chef training, employee training, assistance with menus, to mention a few.
As part of their (Caterplus & Silverspoon’s) social responsibility under the partnership and in the spirit of the Harambe initiative, they envisage initiating a soup kitchen project “Feed the Needy”, with a vision of expanding the concept right across Namibia. In addition to the soup kitchen project, the partnership will actively work toward equipping unemployed Namibian youths i.e. high school drop-outs, with training opportunities in the hospitality industry.
The partnership will be monitored and evaluated by a committee to ensure that the objectives are met. “A joint committee with one external independent person will be established to manage this partnership to the benefit of all stakeholders,” said Tom Mutavdzic, from Silverspoon.

The newly established partnership will be a vehicle to:
1. Enhanced skill and competence within the hospitality sector (hospitals, mines, industrial catering etc.) and
2. promotional opportunity for suppliers to present products to consumers.
Silverspoon will be providing state of the art facilities, executive chef experiences, managing students and in house employees training, food exposes, chef/cooking competitions, ambassador for food products and modernizing food trends in Namibia. Caterplus will avail food products for promotion and branding and will ensure that these products become available in catering houses and households.
The partnership between Silverspoon and Caterplus is built of three key pillars, namely sharing product knowledge, building competence and enhanced service offering.
