Charity run to benefit Kidz project
Fun run
A fun run organised by Rugby Kidz for Christ (RK4C) will take place on Saturday, 18 November at UNAM main campus sports fields. There will be two routes on offer, namely 5 or 10 kilometres – both at the same entry fee at N$80 per person.
The organizers aim to accommodate group entries by charging only N$600 per group consisting of 10 people.
The event will start at 06:30, but late entries and registration will still be accepted at 06:00. No group entries will be allowed to enter on the day of the event, but individual late entries will cost N$100.
A fun-filled day will be awaiting all participants at UNAM sports fields after the fun walk.
Rugby Kidz for Christ is a welfare organisation that depends solely on sponsorships, donations and fund-raising efforts to finance its projects.
“We are trying our utmost to keep expenses to a minimum, but the daily operational costs are unavoidable. We have coaches that travel to underprivileged schools on a daily basis to spread the Word of God, build relationships and teach them the skill of playing rugby.
“We have coaching clinics twice a month, where we target all schools to participate. The youngsters can practice or play rugby games against each other, they get a chance to socialise with like-minded children and adults and get a chance to learn about God and interact with adults that knows a bit more about God and can teach them how to build a relationship with God.
“We do the coaching clinics to give the children something to do on a Saturday and keep them off the streets.
“One of the greatest testimonies received by one of our RK4C's kids' mom was that they no longer struggle to get the kids out of the streets to do homework, chores around the house or spend time with their families. They also now play rugby in the streets, teaching kids how to play rugby and they are now communicating freely about the Lord with peers.”
The targeted schools are situated in Katutura, namely Bethel Primary School, Michelle McLean Primary School, Theo Katjimune Primary School, Hillside Primary School and MH Greeff Primary School.
“What makes our organisation special is that we use rugby as a tool to reach these kids in a fun way, as a means to spread the Gospel of God. Our core mission is to win souls for Christ and this is done in an interactive way through rugby. We try to show these kids that through having a relationship with God, they can overcome anything and all challenges can be accepted easily.”

Tickets can be bought online via Events Today, or at any airtime machine in shops, or the Biltong Shop in Maerua Mall, or at Groenewald Properties (nr. 4 Florence Nightingale Street, Windhoek West), or at the venue on race day.
