Children need to move
Children spend the majority of their day sedentary, behind desks or in front of a screen.
The power of movement has been stolen from these children. This has resulted in a lost generation of children not coping in an ever changing environment.
Movement is the foundation which prepares a child’s brain for learning. Schools must realise the importance of bringing physical activity and movement back to school curriculums which will cultivate active and focussed children. In Namibia there is a desperate need to bring change to our schools’ physical activity curriculum. Without this the development of children will continue to be challenging.
We are seeing more and more children falling behind in schools and developing delays. It’s time to take steps to change this. Children’s bodies are made to move. This is how they grow, how they develop and how they learn.
We hope this publication will foster a change in all of us to unlock the power of movement in our children so they can have a better future in a very ever changing world
