Concerned about municipal audit

Mandy Rittmann
EUGENE FISCH WRITES:

I am truly concerned as a resident and a Namibian.

City of Windhoek did send out notices about the audit however, they insisted on entering people’s homes to verify information. When I questioned this and informed them I can provide them with any information they may require, they again insisted on entering the premises.

I then informed them that they may enter provided that they present a Covid-19 negative test result? They once again went ballistic, threatening to call City Police. They contacted the Chief Inspector to which I again stressed that they may enter provided they present the test result.

The inspector did try to convince me to allow them, but I stood firm and made it clear that we are still under strict Covid-19 restrictions instituted by the President himself and that I have a right to protect myself and my family. The inspector conceded and spoke to the CoW team to which they informed me that the office will contact me.

The elephant in the room that we need to address is, why did they not have the test results with them? Why were they surprised that I asked them for this? How many households did they not visit and came in contact with without providing these results? How many people have they infected, or they could have been infected and are spreading this disease even further?

This exercise is reckless and negligent.

They want to install 5G in the city but still insist on doing things the old way. We have been sending our meter readings via SMS. Why not do this exercise electronically?

They need to apparently see it for themselves? Why not video call, which I will gladly do and I can show you exactly what you need to see?
