David, Aimwata triumph
Local runners Salomo David and Ottilie Aimwata were unstoppable during the ever-popular Hangana Hake Run and Ride, which took place over the weekend.
The 2019 edition of the Hangana Hake Run and Ride, which featured a 42km marathon race, a 21km half-marathon, a 10km run, as well as 90km and 21km mountain bike races and a 5km kiddies ride, took place between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay at the weekend.
Salomo David won the men's 42km marathon. He finished in a time of 2:31:07, a few minutes ahead of Kristof Ndunga, who ran 2:39:33. Martin Ntina clocked 2:40:39 and finished third.
“It was a surprise and I did not expect it. I did not expect it, because to be a veteran and beating the runners in the open category is not an easy thing. I am proud of the hard work I put in. Thank you God, I did it,” David said.
