Growing up in Empangeni, a town in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), South Africa, Hennie Geldenhuys inherited his name from his grandfather.

He was a very active child and always made sure to perform well in school activities, including giving his best in a variety of sports codes.

“Growing up I remember being a salesman by working and managing my father’s business in the small KZN town. I remember going into my father’s biltong factory, making small biltong hampers and selling them door to door in our neighbourhood,” Geldenhuys said.

After completing his high school education in 2000, he entered the job market with his first job managing a casino and learning the trade at the same time.

In 2002 he crossed the ocean to the United Kingdom (UK) where he spent three years exploring the world and gaining experience abroad.

He then found his way to Namibia in 2006 after his parents relocated here.

Namibia is where Geldenhuys settled down, being happily married for 12 years now and the father of two beautiful daughters.

His job entails keeping the revenue engine ticking and providing top marketing strategies for his clients.

As the chief marketing officer, he manages a large team of go-getters and keeping them motivated and hungry for more success is something he aims to do every day.

“This challenge presents myself and the team with more opportunities to make us stronger, more creative which allows us with more opportunities that make us excel to move to a better and more sustainable environment,” he said.

Geldenhuys believes that it is important to deliver the service with more than just what a stakeholder paid for.

He says it is important to stay consistent and like his chief executive officer always says, “Don’t tell me, but show me”.

With that he believes that it is a key method in building a trusted relationship with any stakeholder.

“What makes a good marketer is knowing and having a passion for what you are selling. You have to wow a client each time you represent yourself and the organisation. Don’t oversell, but over-deliver,” he said.

Geldenhuys’s advice to an aspiring individual reading this is to trust and believe in yourself; each person is designed differently and the trick is to trust the path that you are on for a happy and fruitful journey.
