FNB Namibia recently announced the appointment of Tomas Koneka Iindji as the Head of Mid Touch and Clusters at FNB Commercial.
The 40-year-old Tomas Koneka Iindji is a positive, hardworking banker with over 20 years of banking experience. He strives to always achieve the highest standard possible at any given task.
With excellent communication and people skills, Iindji can relate to a wide range of people. “I have a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through to completion whilst at the same time having an eye for detail,” he says.
Iindji was previously an area business manager for FNB Far North but will take up the role of Head of Mid Touch and Clusters within FNB Commercial.
He has an eagerness to learn and enjoys overcoming challenges. He also has a genuine interest in leadership.
“I am a firm believer that through personal commitment combined with solid teamwork, one is able to pull through the rough patches and achieve success,” he says.
Iindji has various accolades and degrees under his belt. He does not only hold a master’s degree (MBA) in business administration from the Regent Business School (RBS) in South Africa and a National Diploma in financial services from the Institute of Bankers of South Africa, but also has a Certificate of Economics for Bankers from American Bankers Association, and has undertaken the Senior Development Programme at the University of Stellenbosch (SA). Iindji has also served in a leadership position at the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and various other boards.
His background in business gives him an overall understanding of how to improve customer satisfaction, and his ability to motivate his team has led to his continued success in his career.
Part of Iindji’s mandate will be to drive the FNB commercial banking strategy for branches countrywide.
“I will manage a sub-segment in accordance with principle policy frameworks and company strategy. I will also need to formulate and position multiple growth management value chains, operating models and frameworks in alignment to the overall segment strategy of the company. This is done in order to position and enable horizontal collaboration, implementation and adoption,” Iindji says.
Iindji will need to manage the profitable and sustainable growth of the sub-segment for all products across all channels with specific focus on VSI, giving strategic direction and ensuring the execution of the FNB value proposition to its existing and future client base.
Iindji brings fresh and insightful perspectives to the table on how to deliver value to the financial services sector and especially to FNB clients and all its stakeholders.
Throughout his career he has demonstrated the ability to work successfully; operate in different environments such as retail banking and business banking and has been able to lead strategies which resulted in impressive value creation.
With his strategic and operational knowledge of the needs of the banking sector, Iindji brings valuable experience to the board and the members of the institute. Iindji can also contribute to the economic development of Namibia through the provision of expertise in management and credit at managerial level.
This well-networked and self-motivated person is also a talented banker with marketing strategies, service management and a good relationship with stakeholders.
“I like to read motivational and leadership books and my hobbies include watching Formula One racing (F1), and I am a strong supporter of Lewis Hamilton who I believe is a highly influential figure.
“I hope to one day become the executive officer of FNB Commercial and to positively contribute to society in general. I will continue to work hard, achieve results and focus on the future.
“The road to success and promotions is not an easy one. It requires working hard, commitment, providing results and enriching the knowledge base,” he says.
