Educational psychologists are trained professionals who help students overcome mental, physical, emotional and social difficulties that prevent them from participating in academic and non-academic activities at school.
The duties of Jurgen is using psychological tests, theories and procedures recommending, developing and administering appropriate therapies and strategies, carrying out psychological assessments to uncover a child's problem, writing reports ,conducting research, providing training, advising and liaising with parents, teachers and other professionals and advising and making recommendations on educational policies.
The work commonly requires local travel to visit schools. Regularly dealing with the problems faced by children and young people can make the job stressful and emotionally demanding.
Educational psychology focuses on three pillars namely: behavioural aspects of learners, learning disabilities and new development disorder difficulties which more specialised in reading, writing, spelling and mathematics.
What inspired Hoffman to do this job is because he had difficulties in concentrating when performing school tasks, mathematics and his handwriting and he felt the need to provide to the learners facing difficulties and to make a difference in their life.
The career traits one need for this type of job is to be able to have a good analytic sense, ability to interpret tests, an understanding of the technical aspects of the condition, assist learner to overcome barriers.
