Eshisha Development and Reconciliation Organisation established
Sakaria Kandenge writes:
We as a group of liberal Namibians have established an organisation, Eshisha Develoment Reconciliation Organisastion (EDR), to make some changes in Namibia through leadership by complementing the government and other national organisations efforts.
EDR was established on 23 November in Windhoek by National Youth Council (NYC) officials as a non-profit organisation under the Republic of Namibia Company Act of 2004. The organisation will advocate for proper development in all sectors, human rights advocacy of all people and uniting the people.
We offer our services by offering development consultations services as well as practically developing infrastructure that will benefits both individuals as well as communities at large.
Eshisha is a name derived from various African languages which represent a silo or large basket innovated and developed to store food, more especially grain and dry fruits.
It takes time and innovation skills to develop Eshisha but it takes courage to determination to set up it is foundation and once the foundation is set up people will look forward into a promising large basket that will benefits and unite all people. Namibia belongs to all Namibians and no one should feel left out.
But you know Namibia is in some sort of crisis and development is extremely slow we have leftish "radical" groups everywhere but they offer less or biased solutions or none. This is how we aim to implement our development programs:
1. Rural areas development. Rural areas lacks development in many aspects and natural resources is depleting while we know very well that rural economy is based on natural resources. Culture is very important in rural economy and we will combine modern methods and cultural norms to bring back rural communities. For example we will replant indigenous trees in rural areas to reactivate the rural based economy.
2. Urban areas development: Our cities and towns are increasingly, turning informal, unsafe for the local investors and tourists, economic stressed, and we would like to stop that. Namibian urban economy needs investors who invest in the country respecting our laws and policies which are rated as some of the best in the world. Sustainable investment, leadership willingness, strategising and volunteerism are the way forward in full formalisation of urban areas. For example we will work with municipalities and town councils to construct basic services in ALL informal areas.
3. Youth development: Young people increasingly face uncertain future without accessing, entrepreneurship, education and career opportunities of their choice. And we need to tackle this by implementing leadership development programs for young leaders and yet again by improving the education system from pre-school, culture and art, education, improving school curriculum and introducing a well balanced human resources management. For example we will help young people to follow their career choice at the peak of their schooling career.
4. Water infrastructure development and climate change mitigation: Water infrastructure and climate change planning is the future for Namibian development. For example we will help the Government build boreholes, earth dams, storage dams, desalination plants, canals, bulk water pipes etc. for agricultural and other development purposes.
5. Agricultural development: Namibian agriculture should combine both cultural and modern methods to succeeds. For example, a mahangu farmer should diversify his field and already have water infrastructure in place to tackle climate change. Water is not a major problem in Namibia. Infrastructure development is the problem. Land and distribution should be maintained at willing buyer willing seller style with the compensation based on what and how much the seller have invested in his/her farm. But we have to empower people in the communal areas first because you cannot allocate a commercial farm to a person who is not willing to invest in farming or understand wildlife management.
6. Moral and religious education: Moral and religious education should be emphasised in public schools to cultivate discipline in the young ones from a young age like they do in private schools. Secular state notion cannot be used as an excuse to prevent moral and religious or faith based norms.
7. International and continental trade: All international other international companies must regulated and we will promote continental trade and add value to our own natural resources like we use to do while maintaining a good relation with inter-continental community.
8. Health and social sector development: We will promote the use of indigenous and herbal based medicines to be accommodated in the market through professional procedures.
9. Any other development and reconciliation issue which is not necessarily mentioned in this writings and is of national interest will be regarded as part of our operations.
10. Social Responsibilities: As an organisation we have social responsibility towards vulnerable people and marginalized communities in our society and we will work closely with other organisations in this regard.
If you would like to make amendments to our development framework or basically want to give any support or mentorship, feel free to contact the organization director Sakaria Kandenge at 081 490 7901 or email [email protected].
