Ever unhappy with Vaalgras leaders

Mandy Rittmann
DISGRUNTLED NATIVE WRITES:

It appears as if people think we are joking if we say there is a worrisome leadership vacuum, crisis and division within the Vaalgras traditional community. The only disheartening thing is, why is the Government allowing this to happen?

The deposed leadership is creating platforms to seek vengeance against their own subjects, viz. Church platforms, developmental platforms such the former resettlement farm Haichas, the German Special Initiative Goats and the going construction of the new "state of the arts" Primary School at Vaalgras.

As we might be well aware, new evictions at Farm Haichas was the latest bone of contention at Vaalgras. Of late, it appears, as if the list of the evictees are incomplete. The revolt is on and there are people carrying out independent self-proclaimed subterranean investigations into the dealings of individuals and leaders etc. at Vaalgras. There are so many administrative discrepancies and corrupt coercive actions taking place, almost on a daily basis.

It is very unfortunate that Mr. Konjore's ranch, this time around a commercial Farm Finis is bordering on the embattled Haichas on the eastern side. His small livestock were also there at Haichas before the farmers invaded the farm, but he moved out quickly before things got out of hand.

As a result his wild livestock knows the farm and use to jump the border fences from time to time. One former shepherd of one of the illegal farmers there related that he used to inform Konjore's shepherds about livestock crossing over into Haichas to come and remove them.

Our subterranean probes have revealed the identity of the persons involved in the alleged stock theft of Konjore's two stud goats. It however appears that they want to sweep it under the carpet, but we dare them to do that.

Three of these leaders are causing havoc within the community. They should take full responsibility for all that is wrong within this community. Two of them are instigating hatred, stirring division, blocking economic development and causing problems at Vaalgras.

Hon. Minister Peya Mushelenga, we don't have a recognized Customary Law adopted by the community, so you should guide us on the way forward. A councillor cannot be both a referee and a player.

In our view, the involved councillor should be requested by the chief to resign in dignity or be "fired" and/or charged with stock theft so that the law take its course. This encroaches on defeating the ends of justice. This is a criminal offence and we cannot accommodate criminals on the Council.
