Five lethargic days for local index
Jo-Maré Duddy – Business was slow on the local index of the Namibian Stock Exchange (NSX) last week with total trade of just over N$6.89 million compared to about N$32.1 million the previous week.
Namibia Breweries saw most of the action, clinching deals worth about N$6.35 million in total. NamBrew ended last week at N$37.25 per share, the same as the previous week.
FNB Namibia Holdings shed 0.02% on its closing price to end the week at N$46.75 per share. A total of N$415 935 FNB Namibia shares changed hands last week.
Capricorn Investment Group last week traded shares to the value of N$113 625. The group’s closing price of N$18.18 per share was unchanged from the previous week.
The only other company on the local index which traded last week, was Oryx Properties Ltd. Oryx recorded total trade of N$9 912 and closed at N$20.65 per share on Friday, the same as the previous week.
The local index ended last week at 591.44 points, losing 0.01% compared to the previous week.
More than N$419.7 million was traded on the overall index of the NSX last week, up from about N$359.7 million the previous one. The index gained 2.72% during the week under review to close at 1 159.17 points. The JSE All Share Index was up 2.97% and ended the week at a new record high of 57 231.90 points.
The biggest winner on the overall index last week was Anglo American. The mining giant closed at N$264.11 per share, 9% higher than the previous week.
Clover Industries was the week’s biggest loser. Its closing price of N$12.16 per share was down 9.9% compared to the previous week.
