Follow the smell of the money

Mandy Rittmann
A. OBHOLZER WRITES:

Socialism can only be sustained on a free-market capitalist base, which is expanding shared values and shared contributions.

Let us call it capitalism with a social conscience. Live within your carrying capacity. Sweden is an example of harmony between capitalism and socialism. There is a social safety net from cradle to grave. It is government of, by, for and with the people, Ubuntu/Harambee. Just sharing on a fixed resource base (redistribution) results in common misery. Communism failed in this aspect, with the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, two hundred years after the French Revolution in 1789.

You cannot expand on debt. This is a vicious spiral to bankruptcy and financial junk status. Follow the principles of Bloomberg of financial discipline/common sense.

• Don't spend more than you earn

• Spend on essentials, not a wish list

• Save regularly, as a reserve cushion

Honest, pragmatic freedom (informed choice) leads to prosperity.

If you smell a rat or a rotten fish, follow the smell of the money in the feeding chain of power. Follow the golden rule of harmony in life.

Do unto others as you would have them do to you (a good neighbour, a good Samaritan).

Do unto your body/mind as you would have them do to you (your body is the temple of your soul).

Do unto mother nature as you would have her do to you (ecology and biodiversity).

Socialism ideals are:

• To everybody according to their needs

• From everybody according to their ability

• Care and share with compassion

People who are lazy or steal (parasites) have broken the social contract of the common good.

If you don't share within reason, you won't have peace of mind.
