The fourth Outdoor Centre opened for business in Swakopmund in December 2015. The other branches are based in Windhoek, Keetmanshoop and Otjiwarongo.

Outdoor Centre Swakopmund boasts divisions for camping, guns as well as fishing, employing nine Namibian staff members.

The staff’s experience is what makes the shop unique, says branch manager Graham “Grumpy” Gramowsky.

“Some of our staff have represented Namibia at angling competitions at an international level, while our gun division also boasts some skilled marksmen.”

Outdoor Centre Swakopmund provides a wide range of products for anglers.

“Recreational fishing is a past time enjoyed by young and old. We have a top of the range angling section and especially cater for the rock and surf angling as well as ski boat anglers,” he said.

A camping section is also part of the offering. “As much as Namibians enjoy fishing, they also love the great outdoors. Fishing and camping often go hand in hand and we therefore dedicated a section for this activity in particular,” he said.

The gun division is also very popular. “Hunting and fishing flows through our veins. We have every calibre imaginable available, with products from brands like Sako, Tikka, Remington and Ruger,” Gramowsky said.

Gun reloading is also done at Outdoor Centre Swakopmund. Reloading is a delicate hobby of gun enthusiasts. It allows them to improve their speed and accuracy.

Gramowsky says Outdoor Centre Swakopmund positively contributes to the Namibian fishing industry.

“We hold seminars on bait presentation and give lessons for distance casting. Fresh bait is also available in-store.”

Outdoor Centre Swakopmund prides itself on importing and stocking top brands in fishing equipment, including Daiwa, Shimano and Penn.
