She received a gold medal for modelling and also received the highest score for spokes modelling for her age group - 13 to 15 years old.

“It was such an amazing opportunity. It was a lot of fun, as I have been preparing for the competition for so long,” she said.

Seven contestants represented Namibia at the competition and brought home three gold medals.

Leanne’s mother, Ennie, said they are truly blessed and privileged to have had the experience.

“Even if she did not win, she learned so much. As a mother, I definitely picked up a few tips on how to be a dance or model mom,” she said.

Leanne said the competition made her a lot tougher.

“Anything that comes my way now, bring it on. I am ready for it.”

Her short-term goals now are to focus on herself, enter more competitions and improve her social life, by catching up with her friends, and of course her schoolwork.

“I actually met my best friend on this trip to Hollywood. She’s from Windhoek and we spent the last school holidays together. Aside from coming home with a gold medal, I gained so much more.”

Leanne said she wants to add acting and playing an instrument to her résumé.

“I started singing and dancing when I was three years old, and began modelling when I was six years old.”

She was crowned Miss Petite 2013 at the Trustco Star Performer competition, and since 2014 she has been participating in International Fine Arts Association (IFAA) competitions both locally and internationally.

“I am going to participate in as many competitions as I can. We have seen that I can do it… What is stopping me now?”

“It was truly an opportunity of a lifetime, and the best you can do is soak in as much as you can and just have fun,” Ennie said.

“The doors are now open for her and we are already thinking of registering her for the Miss Teen Namibia 2020 pageant.

“Without the assistance of our friends and family we would not have been able to experience this. We want to single out her father Christopher Magson and her grandfather Christopher Ajisafe - they played such a pivotal role in her journey. Thank you to all her friends, and every sponsor who made this possible. We are extremely grateful!” Ennie added.
