Great meals at a good price
Fishy Corner Restaurant & Take Away located at 14 Benguella Road (next to Spar) in Henties Bay is renowned for its excellently prepared portions of chips and freshly baked fish.
Dishes are cooked to perfection and served by friendly and efficient personnel.
The cosy venue offers a wide variety freshly prepared and scrumptious sea food, steaks, burgers and original Italian pasta dishes.
When travelling through the beautiful town of Henties Bay, pop in and pick up freshly prepared fish and chips to take with on the road or even enjoy at the beach. Fishy Corner caters for big groups and the individual traveller.
Talana Joubert established the business after moving with her husband, Anton, to Henties Bay in December 1999.
Anton kept himself busy with organising and hosting fishing tours while Talana stayed home.
“I realised there was no restaurant or take away selling fish and considered starting such a business. My sister gave me N$5 000 to assist me with realising my dream.”
Talana bought a chipper and griller and acquired a small shop at the corner of the old Spitzkoppe Restaurant.
“The space was just enough for one person to operate in. I initially made daily purchases which consisted of a pack of oven chips from Benguella Supermark from the money I earned the previous day.”
Talana recounts how she prayed and had a note to herself in the cash register which read “Jesus, help me to sell only four cob for the day”.
She eventually added other basic expenditure such as rent, electricity, her salary and equipment to the list.
Money made was divided and put into envelopes to pay for expenditures.
“Through grace and with determination the business grew. I am truly thankful for all the regular customers and can assure them that each meal is prepared with care and love.”
