Henties Bay is where /Honeb's heart is

There is much more to Henties Bay than it simply being known as fishing haven, holiday resort and a retirement village, says the mayor of the town, Herman /Honeb.

“Winning the Kwêla Town of the Year competition in 2016 underpins and affirmed Henties Bay as one of the best places to live and enjoy a holiday in the SADC region.”

/Honeb said the 2019 Henties Festival, organised by the Henties Tourism Association and held on 23 and 24 August, is the perfect opportunity to firsthand experience what makes the town unique.

A number of musicians have been lined up for live performances during the festival which also will accommodate food, art and craft stalls, a beer tent and ample entertainment for children.

According to the mayor, the town and its approximately 12 000 inhabitants are striving to be economically sustainable, and not just dependent on holidaymakers or anglers.

/Honeb labels Henties Bay as “the coastal gateway” which connects the coast and surrounding towns to the well populated northern regions, considering the upgrading of the Henties Bay road.

“The town has a peaceful, rustic atmosphere and the absence of heavy traffic, the mild climate and long stretches of unspoilt beach create the ideal setting for a leisurely holiday, long walks, sunbathing, picnicking or a few days of rest.”

He adds that Henties Bay is definitely the cleanest town in terms of its air quality and environment.

“With its coastal and desert environment the town offers the perfect getaway from heavy industrialised areas to calmness, complemented by great scenery and a wide range of tourist attractions. The town is peaceful and quiet out of season, and becomes alive during the holiday season. The cleanliness, hospitality and a crime free environment add additional value to the natural beauty of the town and its community which lives fairly comfortable.”
