Hoëkommissariaat skenk fietse

Die Indiese hoëkommissariaat het fietse aan die Sekondêre Skool Immanuel Shifidi, die tweede grootste sekondêre skool in Katutura, geskenk.

Die skenking volg ter viering van die Verenigde Nasies (VN) se Wêreldfietsdag en die 150ste herdenking van die geboorte van Mahatma Gandhi. Indië se hoë kommissaris in Namibië, mnr. Prashant Agrawal, het Ghandhi se lewensverhaal en inspirerende staaltjies uit sy luisterryke lewe met die leerlinge gedeel. Hy het hulle aangemoedig om Ghandi se boodskap van "wees die verandering wat jy in die wêreld wil sien" uit te leef. Op sy beurt het die skoolhoof, mnr. Herman Katjiuongua, die waarde van integriteit en selfrespek beklemtoon.

In ooreenstemming met Ghandhi se filosofie van omgewingsbewaring en 'n gesonde leefstyl is 15 fietse aan verdienstelike studente danksy die ondersteuning van die Rani-groep oorhandig. 'n Aantal boeke is ook aan die skool se biblioteek geskenk.
