Hopefulls at Nama auditions

Henriette Lamprecht
It was talent galore last Saturday as a horde of young, energetic and talented Namibians swamped the NBC Television Centre with the sole aim of charming a panel of television and Nama executives.

Ten individuals will be chosen to host the biggest live televised event in the country, the Namibian Annual Music Awards 2017.

Hosting the NAMAs is often seen as a leap into the world of stardom and showbiz.

The NAMAs pride itself in identifying, nurturing and eventually catapulting these young, vibrant and aspiring individuals into the local and international social scenes.

"The reason we do auditions each year is to test the waters and attract new talent. We want to afford every talented Namibian a chance to stardom and to this great experience," said Glynis Beukes-Kapa, Executive Producer of the awards show.

Apart from glitz and glamour, being a host for the NAMAs goes beyond good looks and a capturing smile. The job requires the skill to focus, a stage presence and above all, a passion for Namibian music.

Successful candidates will be announced within the next few weeks, upon which they will undergo intensive training and rehearsals.
