Ladies Open title goes to SA
Golf
The Namibian Ladies Open golf tournament took place at Omeya Golf club last weekend and what an amazing event it was, with players from Botswana, South Africa and Tanzania joining the field.
Organisers hope to start building a new tradition between the neighbouring countries, supporting each other's Ladies Golf Opens.
Dan Zwiebel and the Omeya team once again did a fantastic job not only with a well conditioned golf course, but also creating a great tournament atmosphere. The management and staff of the 19th hole also took great care of the players.
Although it was a little chilly in the mornings, the weather played along. The only problems the players had was some interesting tee and pin placings.
A friend of Namibian ladies golf and sometimes Omeya local, Nina Grey (RSA) took advantage of her local knowledge to take home the overall honours as the Namibian Ladies Open champion 2017.
NALGU would like to express its gratitude to Nashua Namibia and Namibian Breweries for their generous sponsorship of this event.
Adri Pienaar, president of NALGU, expressed her thanks to the rest of the community for helping to make this event a big success. Schalk Pienaar, John Vermeulen, Ian Stevenson, Lydia and George Lumley not only supported this event, but have keenly assisted Namibian ladies golf throughout the years.
