Let us prepare for the land conference
Metusalem Neib writes:
According to research by the Cross–cultural Trust of Namibia (CCTN) the ancient lands of the Damara and San tribes were frequently seized and given to German colonialists. German colonialism established the Etosha Park in 1907 and allowed Hai-//om San clans to remain within the Park.
In 1954 the South African apartheid regime forcefully removed the
Hai-//om San people from the Etosha Park. The Damara /Khomanin tribes' clans lost their ancient lands in 1960s during the Odendaal Plan.
CCTN requests government recognized traditional authorities of Damara ethnic groups and the landless
/Khomanin Damara clans to prepare for the upcoming land conference in Windhoek during October 2018.
CCTN also challenges land issues as far as the San and Damara genocides of 1904 to 1908 are concerned. These issues deals with different problems and conditions partly for existing democracies and partly regarding transition into democracy.
