Maltas Club prepares Tsumkwe pupils
Maltas Club Namibia (a non-profit organisation) with the sole mandate of empowering young Namibians in leadership, character development and entrepreneurship, held a three-day exam-preparation workshop in Tsumkwe.
The workshop was sponsored by the First National Bank of Namibia Foundation. The aim was threefold: to help the students with the curriculum content they find challenging (especially mathematics), give advice on overcoming exam stress by applying unique yet SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely) learning techniques and finally to ensure there will be a significant improvement in the final exam result this year compared to previous years.
Ashlyn de Koe (Maltas board member) encouraged the pupils to stay focused and believe in the beauty of their dreams, regardless of their circumstances. Ashlyn provided pupils with techniques on how to improve their results in mathematics and science-related subjects. For the first time in the history of the Tsumkwe Secondary School, 18 bright and diligent pupils will sit for the Grade 12 examinations this year. Close to 150 young pupils took part in this year's workshop. Dr. Wilfred Isak April, founder of Maltas Club Namibia, reassured the pupils that it is indeed always great to be part of history. April also narrated his personal journey of failing Grade 12 in 1997 and how he bounced back from adversity.
Daniel Itenge (Maltas board member) told the pupils on behalf of the chairman, Lazarus Emvula, they should never allow anyone to tell them they're not great, as one's greatness comes from within.
Itenge pledged numerous cash prizes which will be awarded to top performers after the exams. The top Grade 12 achiever will receive a cash prize covering their full registration fee at the institution of their choice in 2018.
Maltas Club Namibia would like to thank Tucsin (The University Centre for Studies in Namibia) and Lark Journeys for their additional sponsorship.
