MICT open offices in Omusati and Oshikoto
The Minister of Information and Communication Technology officially inaugurated new regional office buildings of his ministry at Outapi in the Omusati Region and Omuthiya in Oshikoto Region on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
The buildings are equipped with Internet facilities and high-tech video recording studios.
Speaking while inaugurating the Omuthiya building, Tjekero Tweya said agencies affiliated to the ministry such as the Namibia Press Agency (Nampa), Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and New Era newspaper are free to use the facilities.
Members of the public, particularly young aspiring musicians, can also use the studios to record their work at low costs.
In addition to the regional offices, Tweya said his ministry has thus far established 26 multi-purpose community centres countrywide in its intention to ensure that access to information is attained by the public.
In the Oshikoto Region, the MICT multi-purpose community centres are established in the Omuntele and Eengodi constituencies.
Tweya said the dream of the ministry is to have multi-purpose community centres in all constituencies of the country.
“It can be done; we must have undivided vision and commitment to make it happen,” he stated.
The minister reminded the Omuthiya MICT officials that they have a huge task of providing first-class services to the residents of Oshikoto Region. Nampa
