Naigambo, Rainhold receive sponsorship from Emoneko
Road running
Well-known Namibian elite runners Beata Naigambo and Rainhold Tomas will be running in the colours of Emoneko at the Nedbank Citi Dash on Sunday morning.
Tomas is the defending champion of last year's Citi Dash. He has also qualified for the marathon world championships during October this year. His goal at the event in Qatar is to break the current Namibian marathon record of 2 hours 09 minutes 18 seconds.
Naigambo is a three-time Olympic marathon runner. Her personal best marathon time is 2:27:28. She is fondly considered the Namibian female “veteran” of running.
She can be expected to literally give the participating elite ladies a good run for their money.
The partnership between Dr Jonathon Joffe of Emoneko, and the two athletes, Naigambo and Tomas, evolved over the last few weeks. Both athletes are excellent role models for the youth and ambassadors of the Namibian nation, thereby encouraging current and future generations to become active and engage in healthier lifestyles and practices.
This fits well into the philosophy of Emoneko to promote a healthy lifestyle preventing a range of lifestyle diseases relating to the eye.
Recent expansions and renovations at Dr Joffe's well-known Olympia Eye & Laser Centre and Olympia Optics led to the formation of Emoneko. At Emoneko the focus is on health (prevention and cure), people (where people care for people) and technology (highest standard of equipment used). It incorporates the newly built Aesthetics Centre Olympia, Focus Point & Café Coffee.
Dr Joffe, also known as “The Eye Doc” and an enthusiastic and accomplished former athlete himself, became involved as a co-sponsor of the Nedbank City Dash, as he believes in being active and involved in sport for preventative health.
Joffe says: “We do not only treat the acute symptoms that sometimes arise from a sedentary lifestyle, but also engage with clients when it comes to their general health and well-being.
“Aesthetic Centre Olympia offers a wide range of tests and treatments like the In-Body test, Visia skin analysis, Medi Lean and a range of BTL machines that are used for body shaping, skin formation and fat reduction.
“Good health and fitness do not only apply for our patients, but for our staff as well. This is why Emoneko has entered 40 of its employees and family to take on the challenge of 'running the city'.”
