Namibia DMC list: ‘serious candidates’
THE Secretary-general of the Namibia DMC, Mr Joseph Kauandenge, writes:
The Namibia Democratic Movement for Change (Namibia DMC) has finally released its list of nominees for the upcoming parliamentary elections as well as nominating our president, Chief Frans Migub /Goagoseb, as our candidate for the presidential elections.
We hold the conviction that we will have to produce or submit a list that is realistic with our strength and not follow the trend set up by other parties. To us it is useless to submit a list of 72 names just for the purpose of having done so, while statistically and reality checks dictate to us that at this point of our existance such a number is not within our reach.
In that regard we submitted 25 names for our Parliamentary list to the Electoral Commission. This should by all means not be taken as a sign that we could not muster the required 72 names, but as the election results will show, we will get more than this number of voters. But again we are not in a fashion show where we have to follow the trend or standards set up by other parties.
If one peruses through the list one will be struck by a number of things. Amongst them is the fact that many of those on our list are really youthful members of our party, having in the top five two youthful members. Equally we have women on number 4 and number 11 – a clear indication of where we put women on our list of priorities.
Thirdly it is clear that over a period of five years the Namibia DMC has clearly moved away from being a purely tribal party to a national party in which everyone has a stake. This is reflective of the way the list has been combined. It is also true that those on the list represent all the thirteen regions of our country.
With such a youthful team, a statement is made here that Namibia DMC is a party that clearly caters for the needs and aspirations of the youth of our country. We don’t want to pay lip-service to the notion of youth empowerment, we demonstrate it through our actions.Namibia DMC Party list: Chief Frans Migub /Goagoseb
