Namibia runs for charity
Fitness
There are many less fortunate people in Namibia and we, the more fortunate, can play a part in alleviating their plight.
This weekend's Namibia Runs For Charity event is your chance to play that part. It's a chance to show your humanity while having fun and doing something healthy for the family, the company and for yourself.
This family sports event aiming to raise funds for charitable purposes will take place on Saturday 21 July from 08:00 to 13h00 at Van Rhyn Primary School, c/o Van Rhyn Street and Harvey Street in Windhoek North.
The event takes place annually or bi-annually since 2011 at a venue as decided by the organisers. NRC is a privately organized initiative supported by corporate and public sponsors under the slogan: “Let's run for fun and support charity”.
To participate, find personal donor(s) by asking your friends, family, colleagues or anyone else you know to donate a lump sum / amount per completed lap for your effort. Of course, you can also be your own sponsor. On Saturday the track will be open from 08:00 until 13:00. During this time, you can run/walk as many laps as you want and/or can.
Entrance is free, but in order to get a runner's number and take part, you will have to hand over lump sum donations you collected to one or more of the six beneficiary charities (see list below) of your choice at the entrance to the event (i.e. upfront).
Please ensure that you have the money available in cash. Donations received per completed lap may be handed over after 13:00, but still on the same day.
Participants endeavour to take up as many 400 metre laps as possible around the track. Entertainment will be available for all. Food and drinks will be for sale, so you can enjoy the event as a family, sponsor, spectator or just someone looking to socialise. It promises to be a lot of fun for simply everybody.
The six beneficiaries are: AIESEC, CLaSH, Havana Soup Kitchen, Kids Soup Kitchen, SCORE Namibia, Wilderness Therapy Namibia.
On the Facebook page (Namibia Runs For Charity), you can find further information about these charities and their “wish list” of needed items, besides money.
You can register at any Pick n Pay or visit www.webtickets.com.na, or at the event. Enquiries can be directed to [email protected], 081 777 4507 or 081 220 5203.
