Nampower rewards wrestling medallists

THREE wrestlers that each won two gold medals at South African Championships in 2007 were rewarded for their achievements. Nampower has generously sponsored their affiliation and competition fees for 2008. The three are Jason Afrikaner, Lukas Thomas and Tusnelda Swartbooi - all from the After School Center Wrestling Club. The Namibian Wrestling Federation has expressed great appreciation to Nampower for this gesture.

Johannes Homateni has been appointed as head coach at the Alte Feste Wrestling Club. He was the club's most experienced wrestler that retired from international competition after the All Africa Games last year. Homateni attended a four month coaching course in Montreal, Canada in 2007. This was made possible by the Namibia National Olympic Committee, the Olympic Solidarity Scholarship of Coaches Program and PAISAC (International Support Program to African and Caribbean Sport).

The course was conducted in collaboration with the Coaching Association of Canada and the Quebec Wrestling Federation.
