Nanso procures two vehicles for operations
Organisation looks to achieve financial sustainability

The Namibia National Students Organization (NANSO) last week unveiled the procurement of two vehicles. The vehicles will be used by the organisation’s National Executive Committee to carry out its operations.
“These vehicles will assist the National Executive Committee in fulfilling its mandate by, figuratively, reducing the distance between our different structures, and making leadership more accessible across the board,” said Nanso spokesperson Esther Shakela.
The organisation invested part of its annual N$500 000 budget from the ministry of education, arts and culture and its shareholder dividend declared by Socio-Partners Investment in acquiring the two vehicles.
“As the National Executive Committee, we said that this year we are taking all our funds and we are going to invest it into the vehicles and that was great leadership from us,” said the acting president of the organisation, Gregory Madi.
Madhi said the procurement of the vehicles was just the beginning and that the organisation plans to have at least one vehicle per region.
“We want the practice that we have here to move to every region. One region, one car, one bakkie, that is the new stand,” Madi said.
Accountability
Luciano Kambala, the acting vice-president of the organisation, said Nanso wants to become financially sustainable.
Raimo Naanda, the deputy executive director at the ministry of higher education, training and innovation, urged the student leaders of Nanso to be accountable.
“With financial sustainability, we need to account for our books,” he said.
“Buying a vehicle and possessing a vehicle is one thing and taking care of it is another thing,” Naande added.
Naande congratulated Nanso on their achievement and pledged the ministry’s support to the organisation.
