The NCCS Pro Cycling Team finished third overall in the fifth edition of the popular MTN Khemani Road Classic in Swaziland on Saturday.

The MTN Khemani Road Classic is the largest and most popular road race in Swaziland and is an event recognised by the International Cycling Union (UCI).

Namibia, South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana and host nation Swaziland were the countries with teams competing in the event.

The Namibian Cleaning Chemical Solution (NCCS) Pro Cycling Team were third overall in the team category, while the BCX team from South Africa, which won the Tour de Windhoek in Namibia last month, finished first.

Second place went to Sampanda, also from South Africa.

Speaking to Nampa, Jacob Kiyola, the team principal and communication manager of NCCS Pro Cycling, said the Swaziland Cycling Federation made a big effort to involve their country's men and women in the sport – an approach he said Namibians should copy.

“The Swaziland Cycling Federation has a very good and fair support system for cycling. I encourage Namibians to collaborate with them to share ideas in order to develop young riders,” he said.

Kiyola added that he was extremely happy to achieve their team goal of finishing in the top 10 of the individual category.

Fiffy Kashululu finished sixth overall, while the rest of his teammates managed to finish in the top 20.

Kiyola also told Nampa that the team will start training this week in preparation for the Pick 'n Pay Cycle Classic, Hangana Hake Run and Ride, as well as the 94.7 cycling event taking place on 19 November in Johannesburg, South Africa.
