New Karstveld Academy hosts open day
Karstveld Academy, a new private school which will open its doors at Grootfontein in January 2021 for learners from pre-primary to grade 12, hosted an open day this past Saturday. The open day received many visitors from different towns in Namibia.
The highlight of the day was a tour of the remarkable facilities that include a modern hostel, pre-primary, primary and high school all on the same premises. Visitors were impressed by the informatics class, science laboratories and stargazing platform that will be connected to the state-of-the-art media centre via fibre optics. The music class, art class and sports grounds also created enthusiasm as parents learned about the wide choice of subjects and extra-curricular activities the Academy offers.
Mrs Jolene Nel, the school principal, shared with visitors the Academy’s vision to be a ‘School of Excellence’, not competing with any other school, but providing a platform for learners in Namibia to reach their full potential in their unique set of talents and interests.
She thanked Mr Koos Brandt on behalf of the community for building the school and added that the Academy can only be successful if the whole community accepts the responsibility together to make it as such.
Karstveld Academy’s values are ‘Scienta, Labor, Libertas’ which means knowledge, work and freedom. These values underpin the philosophy of the Academy to empower learners through quality education and the impartation of a strong work ethic which will enable them to make their mark in the future world of work.
