Nicole Bierbach first Namibian to qualify for rhythmic world championships

Nicole Bierbach, who last year became the first Namibian ever to qualify for the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, repeated this achievement for the 2010 competition.

As a rhythmic gymnast, her artistry technique has developed steadily as she improves the difficulty of her routines and precision of apparatus skills.

She has participated in rhythmic gymnastics since the age of 6 although in Namibia, the hours and level of training were for many years not adequate on a world standard – thus she had a huge training “backlog” to make up for.

Nicole enjoys the professional ambience and the company of the world’s best rhythmic gymnasts at competitions. Focusing on her own performance, she is proud to be part of these championships and hopes to continue on the course she set for herself last year.

She loves the experience of competing, combined with meeting new gymnasts and experiencing new countries. She says: “Gymnastics is not just a sport, it is a life experience.”
