No vaccination - no services?

Mandy Rittmann

Ninety percent of Covid-19 deaths were not vaccinated. The adult vaccination rate in Namibia is only twenty percent.

268 000 vaccine doses will expire in one to two months, if not used. They were donated/paid for!

Why this madness?

Namibia has been in economic recession since 2017. In 2018, we suffered the drought of the century.

In 2019 we were hit by the global Covid-19 pandemic. Our normal life and economy, especially tourism, ground to a halt. Unemployment and socio-economic distress soared. According to the latest data, fifty percent of 18–35-year-olds are unemployed – a time bomb!

The GRN / MoHSS have done all they can to make vaccination available for free, but there is “hesitancy” due to ignorance and fear of the unknown. This is public health sabotage!

All air travel from Southern African countries to the UK was frozen due to a new Covid-19 variant. This news is not just Black Friday but Black Christmas and Black New Year for Tourism.

Austria (Europe) with a sixty percent vaccination rate, introduced the no vaccination, no access to private or public services policy from 1/2/22 after a flare-up of cases. This is first world.

Africa complains about a lack of vaccines, but due to logistics, capacity and “hesitancy”, Sudan, Malawi and now Namibia have to destroy expired vaccines. Madness!

You now have people who have recovered, those who were vaccinated, the dead and dying, and the majority of hesitant denialists, who are sabotaging public health and the economy.

Covid-19 is not a game of cricket. It is a matter of life or death. If you refuse a vaccine, stay at home, work from home, if you have work, or take unpaid leave.

Information is choice, power, security and well-being.

I suggest as an emergency public relations drive that the Founding Father, the President, the Cabinet and all members of the National Assembly and National Council declare that they have been vaccinated.

I had mild Covid-19 between vaccinations and my whole extended family was vaccinated. Nobody died. Thank God.

Vaccination is not a choice; it is a mandatory public duty. It is an investment in a better future for all – we.

Namibia, Land of the Brave Warriors, why are you more scared of the vaccine than Covid-19? Every funeral is a super spreader event.

Our challenges are ignorance, poverty, disease, death (irrational fear).

The shepherd has given you common sense. Use it. Open your mind and live, with your partner in health, a vaccine!

The target risk group is over 50 years, obese diabetics, who smoke and abuse alcohol. Medical aid funds will soon pay out less for hospital admissions for non-vaxers.

A Luta Continua in the Spirit of Harambee.

One Namibia. One Nation. One Family. One Life.
