The Omaruru River is a major river crossing the Erongo region of western central Namibia from East to West. Its dry riverbed is also the venue for much of the action during the Omaruru Arts Festival. Here is the programme:



Thursday 29 August

• 19:00: Langtafel - Longtable dinner held in the Omaruru River. Music by Gert Meyer. Tickets cost N$150 and includes dinner. There will be a cash bar.



Friday 30 August

Art exhibitions and workshops at various venues throughout town open from 09:00 to 17:00.

• 11:00 - 12:00: Die Namib Skryf (DSN-skrywersklub) bespreking oor “woorde maak” by die Johaniter-saal

• 13:00 - 14:00: - DSN skrywers­klub bied aan 'n Tas vol nostalgie: 'n musiek- en liriekproduksie deur digters van die klub, saamgestel deur Henriette van Wyk en Sanet Lambrechts. Musiek onder leiding van Sanet Lambrechts en Wouter de Bruin.

• 17:30: Comedy: Operasie Holm with Marion Holm taking place in the Omaruru River. Tickets cost N$150. Cash bar and food stalls available.

• 22:00: Under the Stars Classical Concert with Jannie Moolman, Johan Kelber and The Con Spirito Ensemble. Tickets cost N$280, N$350 or N$550. Held in the Omaruru River. Cash bar and food stalls available.



Saturday 31 August

Art exhibitions and workshops - Various venues throughout town open from 09:00 to 17:00

• 11:00 - 12:00: Die Namib Skryf (DSN-skrywersklub) bespreking oor “woorde maak” by die Johaniter-saal

• 13:00 - 14:00: DSN skrywersklub bied aan 'n Tas vol nostalgie: 'n ­musiek- en liriekproduksie, saamgestel deur Hen­riette van Wyk en Sanet Lambrechts. Musiek onder leiding van Sanet Lambrechts en Wouter de Bruin.

• 7:30 - 13:00: Farmers Market - Omaruru with fresh farm produce, food stalls, cash bar, cheese and wine tasting as well as sales on offer.

• 11:30 - 14:00: Tuinbou en Twak - A humorous lunch hour show with gardening guru Johan Wentzel and chef Sanet Prinsloo. Cook-off competition. Tickets cost N$150 and include a picnic lunch. Taking place in the Omaruru River. Cash bar available.

• 18:30: Theatre - The best music of the world with Esther Fellner and world class virtuoso harmonica player Rene Giessen from Germany. Directed by Sandy Rudd. Tickets cost N$150. Happening in the Omaruru River. Cash bar and food stalls available.

• 20:30: Under the Stars Rock & Roll Concert - Legends by Nathan Smith, Josh Ansley and full band paying tribute to Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Dire Straits, Gary Moore and many more. This promises to be an evening of pure magic and guitar genius. Tickets cost N$280, N$350 or N$500. Taking place in the Omaruru River. Cash bar and food stalls available.
