We often turn a blind eye when it comes to the importance of women in our society
Camilla Amadhila and Quintin Swartbooi
Women are worth so much more than what we give them credit for, not only are they our birth-givers, but they are also our strength pillars. Despite often being seen as only the peace-keeper in the family because of her compassion, she is an educator, a caretaker and just like a man, she can also be a breadwinner.
The list of what a woman is and signifies is endless, and it's sad to see that they are not acknowledged for their greatness in all aspects.
We live in not just a country but a world where women are constantly discriminated against. Yet never has this stopped a woman from fulfilling her duties and rising to the occasion.
As a society, we could put in a little bit more effort when it comes to showing our respect to women.
A small gesture could go a long way, simply listening to a female friend’s opinion and valuing it is a small way to show acknowledgment.
Speaking up for a disadvantaged and women who have suffered injustice, allowing a woman to be who and what she wants to be without judgement; simple acts like these would not only show respect but could do more than that, they could empower women.
In a nutshell, the value and empowerment of women will not happen without giving them credit where credit is due. The right for women empowerment is not just for women but empowering a woman is empowering a nation because as I said, a woman is an educator.
