Pairs title goes to Nande and Wentzel

Golf
The Federation Pairs competition was held at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club last Saturday and Sunday.

This is the only competition that the Namibia Golf Federation offers during the year. As an exception, professional players were also allowed to play and win prizes.

The sponsor of the competition is Safety Kit. Ernst Calitz expressed pride to have had the opportunity to once again be the sponsor of this popular event.

In total 32 teams participated. No team could win two prizes, so the results must be read in that context. The overall winning team was Likius Nande and Kevin Wentzel, who narrowly held off the challenge of Hafeni Nghinamwaami and Johannes Mungolo.

On Saturday afternoon a thunderstorm interrupted play for a while, but play was not stopped.

The results were as follows:

Best gross: 1 Likius Nande & Kevin Wentzel (296); 2 Hafeni Nghinamwaami & Johannes Mungolo (297); 3 Borris Erasmus & Roux Jeffery (299).

Best net: 1 George Gariseb & Hans Haraseb (261); 2 Bertus Damon & Joseph Martin (274); 3 Gustav Fransman (snr) & Stefanus van der Merwe (284).

Betterball net: Toady Gurirab & Thomas Shitaleni (63).

Betterball runner-up: Graeme Fransman (jnr) & Karl Swartz (64).

Three lucky draw prizes were also part of the sponsorship

The club captain thanked all participants for the support, especially the ones that came from afar, being 29.

• Tomorrow the club will host the second International Pairs qualifier, sponsored by Windhoek Lager.

Players are again reminded of this prestigious event which could lead to winning a golf trip to Portugal at the end of the year.
