The fourth Timeout Beach Series 2017 event of the year, the Timeout King of the Court 2017, will be hosted at DTS Beach Arena on Sunday.

The King of the Court concept for this tournament is regularly used in Timeout beach volleyball training sessions, but it's the first time in Namibia it is being used as a competition.

The 2-a-side categories are Men, Ladies, Social, Youth Mixed, Experienced Mixed and Social Mixed. The 4-a-side categories are Experienced Mixed, Social Mixed and Youth Mixed.

One sand court will be used for the whole tournament. Teams in each category will play one after the other throughout the day, starting from 08:00. Each category will be limited to five teams.

The teams will play three timed rounds – first round 20 minutes, second round 15 minutes, final round 15 minutes.

The teams with the lowest points in the first and second rounds will be eliminated and the final round will decide the podium positions among the last three teams in the category.

This competition will see the top Namibian beach volleyball athletes taking part, including the winners of the RFS Winter Classic Timeout beach series 2017 event in June – ladies champions Simone von Weitersheim, men's champions Daniel & Fabian Pfeifer and fellow U19's world championship 2016 participant Michi Böhringer.

The Timeout Beach Series has a total of seven events in 2017 and athletes collect points throughout the series to give an overall standing for the Men's, Ladies and Youth categories. Accounting for the fact that some athletes are not able to attend all seven events, the four best results from each athlete will give the final standings.

After three Timeout Beach Series 2017 events, the overall standings so far are:

Men: 1 Heiko Prior (624 points), 2 Christian Schulze (432), 3 Fabian Pfeifer (408).

Ladies: 1 Rosi Hennes (624). 2 Carmen Curschmann (468). 3 Michi Böhringer (456).

Youth: 1 Ricco Seebach (468); 2 Kyara Leuschner (384), 3 Christof Serrer (360).

• The remaining Timeout Beach Volleyball Series 2017 dates are:

#RedBullNamibia King& Queen of the Beach – 16 September, DTS Beach Arena, Windhoek.

Fabupharm Swakop Masters – 4 and 5 November, Mole Beach, Swakopmund.
