Plastic Packaging recently started manufacturing bubble wrap, a first for Namibia. And their bubble wrap can be recycled.

Plastic Packaging is a complete packaging solutions company, providing value-added solutions for clients’ packaging requirements. Not only do they manufacture plastic packaging materials, but also provide alternatives to plastics, such as their Green-Pack eco-friendly range.

Their goals entail exceeding customer expectations and requirements, by providing an excellent product and service where the client needs it.

Plastic Packaging invests in manufacturing technology in traditional and green products and has a ‘planet first’ attitude where new technology should primarily consider the environment. Plastic Packaging takes full responsibility for the products they manufacture, as well as for other companies, who import plastic from outside Namibian’s borders. Plastic Packaging has a vision for Namibia to move towards a circular economy, which means that plastic products must be recycled and turned into second-life products, used and recycled again. This is evident in their plastic recycling plant in Okahandja, where they recycled approximately 1 600 tons of plastic waste last year, and converted it into second-life cycle products, such as their STAR refuse bags. And they want to do even more this year.

Plastic Packaging operates in South Africa, Namibia and Angola and employs approximately 500 people in Namibia.

They are a 100% Namibian-owned and 100% Namibian-employment that puts a great deal of emphasis on integrity and family values.

Plastic Packaging has branches in Lüderitz, Keetmanshoop, Walvis Bay, Otjiwarongo, Tsumeb, Ongwediva and Rundu, with their head office being in Windhoek. Included in the Plastic Packaging group of companies in Namibia are Namibia Polymer Recyclers (NPR) and Namibia Plastic Converters (NPC), both situated in Okahandja. NPR is the plastic recycling plant and NPC manufactures a wide variety of PVC, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and agricultural pipes. For the manufacturing of some agricultural pipes, recycled plastic waste materials are used.

The route-to-market channel used for promoting its mandate is based on a comprehensive market approach, where they cover grassroots to high-end industrial consumers, while not excluding any tier of the market.

Plastic Packaging has extensively built experience in the Namibian market and relationships of over 38 years with all clients in all corners of Namibia. The company’s ability to deliver a packaging solution to clients, basically all over Namibia, within 24 hours from order, makes them stand out from the rest. Products are kept at the branches, in line with the client’s requirements in that geographical area.

The secret behind the company’s success for the past 38 years is team unity and creating a harmonious working environment, where employees take ownership of their responsibilities.

Currently, together with the Recycle Namibia Forum and the environment ministry, Plastic Packaging and other sponsors are busy with the planning of the manufacturing of all refuse bags to be provided for the presidential national clean-up campaign on the 21 September. They will be manufactured from recycled plastic waste. More detail on this campaign and the sponsors will be available shortly via various media channels.

Plastic Packaging won the following awards at the 2018 Namibia Manufacturing Association Awards:

Overall winner award for corporate manufacturer of the year;

Gold award for Namibia Polymer Recyclers - medium manufacturer of the year; and

Gold award for Plastic Packaging for the most environmentally friendly manufacturer.

The company also received a gold award at the recent Namibia Tourism Expo, which focused on sustainability and recycling.
