The stage is set for leg three of the 2016 Gallina motocross championship series that will be held at Gallina Motocross Park this coming Saturday.
The event, sponsored by Dial-A-Meal, promises to be one of the biggest of the year with the organisers expecting more than 60 entries in no less than five classes.
In class MX 1, Tommy Gous is leading the championship table with 15 points from his Yamaha team-mate and 2015 champion Bjorn Bierbrauer after the latter had some bad luck at the previous meeting with technical problems including a flat tyre.
Both riders have been practicing very hard over the past month and it will be very interesting to see who comes out on top in their duel for first place on the podium. Currently lying in third in the championship is Ruan Gous on his KTM who also had some bad luck this year but being one of the fittest riders on the track, he will definitely be a very quick and serious contender in this class.
Other riders to watch out for include Jaco Loots on his Kawazaki, Pascal Henle on a KTM and Henry O’Kennedy on his Yamaha 450.
In class MX 2 Marcel Henle who is riding a KTM has built up a lead of 24 points over Don-Ray Botha (Yamaha) and Nicolai Palmhert (KTM) who is currently tied in second spot with 76 points each.
The following three spots on the log is filled by Pauli Loots (Kawazaki), Karl-Heinz Erni (Yamaha) and Duard Wiese (Yamaha). With no less than 23 riders competing in this class, spectacular racing is expected with competitors like Tony Viljoen (Kawazaki), Fakkie Gous (Yamaha) and the ever consistent Ben Visser (Yamaha) all in with a chance of a podium finish.
The Clubmen Class has grown tremendously with no less than 30 riders taking part at the previous event and here only three points separate Jan de Haan who is riding a Yamaha in first place with Sven Rubow (KTM) second and JF Van Eeden (Yamaha) in third.
Other riders to watch out for are fourth placed Marcel Gallardo on his Yamaha, with Benni Palmhert, also on a Yamaha, blowing in his neck only eight point behind.
With so many entries received, the organisers had to introduce a brand new ‘Rookie’ class for beginners and after one event the top spot is being shared by Herbert de Klerk (KTM) and Liam Gilchrist (Husqvarna). Currently lying third in this class is Lenny Bagwitz (KTM) with Juan van As only one point behind in fourth.
As usual the Quad riders will be out in full force with Jens Rubow currently proving leading the field on his Honda ahead of JL Opperman (Yamaha) and ladies racer and 2015 champion Maike Bochert (Honda) in third place.

BOTSWANA FACTOR
Ross Branch, well-known rider from Botswana, will be accompanied by a few of his countrymen including Wade Den, Dartagnan Lobjoit, Anton Henriksen and Tyron Beverley.
The gates will open at 10:00 with the first race to start at 12:00 and entry fees are N$40 for adults and N$20 for kids younger than 12.
Due to the road works being carried out on the B5 20 km north of Windhoek, spectators are requested to turn right at Truck & Cab and follow the indicators leading to the track for a fun-filled day and all the thrills and spills you can only find at a motocross event.
The kiosk will be in operation with plenty of food and drinks available and spectators are advised to arrive early and bring along camping chairs as a big crowd is expected and seating could be a slight problem.
