Rix Transport partners with Iveco for success

One team, one plan, one goal.

“In business there is no room for emotion and when your transport company depends on its vehicles, you vote with your cheque book and buy a brand which offers the best fuel efficiency and highest reliability” says Lionel Rix, who started Rix Transport with his wife in February 2008. From humble beginnings they expanded the business into one of the most recognised fleet companies in Namibia.

Rix Transport specialises in transport and courier services between Namibia and South Africa. What sets them apart in the industry is their dedicated team that provides clients with a personalised service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days per year.

Iveco has been part of their success story from the very beginning. Time is money and when your vehicle is off the road, you lose money. Lionel knows this from experience and is pleased that he can rely on his Iveco vehicles to live up to his business expectations.

He says that the Iveco Daily can really take a hammering and deliver against high demands. Over the years he has run Iveco Daily Panel Vans, one of which were sold with more than 1,3 million km on the clock and another with just over 1,2 million km.

A typical assignment profile of his Iveco Daily Panel Vans is a 36-hour round-trip from Windhoek to Johannesburg and Cape Town return. The vehicles are loaded with cargo of between 2,2 to 2,8 tons per trip. Rix Transport issues two drivers per vehicle to ensure seamless fleet progress without any customer delays. Each one of the Iveco vehicles travel between 18 000 km and 25 000 km per month. This is the sort of mileage your average motorist would cover in a year.

Dependable on a Daily basis

Time and again the Daily has proven that it is a superior vehicle in terms of its reliability and dependability. The vehicles are serviced promptly and kept well maintained, which is of utmost importance to ensure they can continue to perform under such punishing schedules.

“Namibia with its high temperatures and long roads is a true test for any vehicle and the Iveco Daily has really earned its bones here with us,” Rix added.

Rix Transport currently operates depots in Windhoek, Johannesburg and Cape Town and can transport a wide array of goods. When asked about success stories they quickly added that they were able to almost double their fleet over the past five years and now has a fleet of 15 Iveco vans.

In addition, Rix Transport has recently implemented one of the latest courier software programmes available in the market which makes it easier for clients to trace their parcels.

Another stepping stone for them was being one of the first Namibian companies to introduce the new Iveco Daily 20 m³ Panel Vans to their fleet. These vans can carry an astonishing 4 tons payload, which is much more compared to other vans, while still remaining fuel efficient and living up to Rix Transport's customer promise of achieving more for less.

Through their partnership with Iveco, Rix Transport has been able to achieve just that.
