SKW ladies crowned club champs
After just making it through to the knock out stages the SKW volleyball ladies showed their true class by beating two of their closest rivals to win the trophy. A solid performance by every player and some good team spirit is what proved to be the difference.
The ladies have now qualified for the annual Zone 6 Championships which brings together the best club teams in Southern Africa. The men’s team could unfortunately not defend their title and exited the competition at the semifinal stages.
At the year-end function, the SKW Men were awarded the 2nd and the Ladies the 3rd place in the national Volleyball League.
The league awards for some of the SKW players were as follows: Heiko Diehl – Player of the Year (Men) Rector Mbeha – Spiker of the Year (Men) Mwita Sikopo – Blocker of the Year (Men) Elina Veijo – Player of the Year and Spiker of the Year (Women) Simone von Wietersheim – Blocker of the Year (Women) Sabine Pampe – Setter of the Year (Women)
