Still peace eludes our church

Mandy Rittmann
CHRISTIAN TIBOTH WRITES:

I called attention to the fashion in which the ELCRN bishop's election took place in this same newspaper a few weeks ago.

It was anything other than reflecting Christian ethos. It was a prohibitively obscene and vulgar exercise, characterized by extreme cold-bloodedness and sheer destructive intent which is only true for trained assassins.

It still continues after the election and “their” subsequent victory. They claim it to be their victory, unsurprisingly, not the victory of the ELCRN.

The silence of the elected leaders, in the face of continued attacks on the church leadership and more specifically the Deputy Bishop Paul Hatani Kisting further fuel the suspicion that they are in cahoots with these unguided missiles who confuses themselves as “revolutionaries”. Revolutionaries they definitely are not, judging from the ill-informed premises they operate on. They are thoroughly and willingly feeding on ignorance.

I am very much cautious to agree with the saying “the average follower is as good as the one leading”, but their silence leave me no choice but to agree. As a Lutheran, I am seriously concerned by the total lack of intuition depicted by the indecision of the elected bishops.

It may seem early days, but if you can't get the requisite basics in order now (which they have failed to do up to now), it surely will haunt you in the future. That is the unfortunate law of nature.

We live in an orderly universe strictly governed by laws. No one can skip the law of nature without being caught.

Victory is not “mission accomplished”, but the beginning of a huge task, amongst others, restoring the dignity/character of fellow leaders which were destroyed unfairly in the run up to, during and after the election. We are eagerly waiting to see the plan of action of the newly elected bishops, given the fact that their campaign managers and followers happen to be the ones responsible for the current unconducive climate.

How are they going to undo the smear campaign which secured them the votes? Either they have to confirm the allegations made by their campaign team or dismiss them to establish their credibility. We are not going to wish that away.

THE BISHOPS RESIDENCE

Hilarious, yet serious, social media postings and emails are doing the rounds in respect of the Bishop residence in the names of a certain Abner Axel Xoagub and a certain Elder Ludwig Taniseb.

Hilarious because the ignorant are hell-bent to “clarify” a subject they have no clue of. Serious because no one can undermine the power of the ignorant masses.

It's a sorry state of affairs because those I suppose in the know within them, especially the pastors (retired and active), are taking these people for a ride or are they perhaps equally ignorant? This whole “revolutionary” exercise is confirming my suspicion that these members do not know their own church.

“When you are dead, you don't even know that you are dead. It's a pain only felt by others. It is the same when you are ignorant.” - Unknown

Ignorance is not particularly a bad state, but dangerous when it is the basis of a “revolution”. Therefore, I will take the responsibility upon myself and very briefly inform the masses with regards to the Bishops residence.

The ELCRN has only one Bishop residence, which is unoccupied and in a deplorable state for a couple of years now. It needed our concerted collective effort all those years, but you neglected it because you are brainwashed to boycott any fundraising effort of the ELCRN by your masters so that any effort with the name Paul Hatani Kisting in it fail.

When are you proud of your church? When do you love your church?

I am tempted to ask where you were all these years when the church needed you.

The Deputy Bishop is not residing in a Bishops residence. That's a pathological lie.

Therefore take note, ladies and gentlemen, that the two outgoing bishops are not moving an inch from where they live now.

The ELCRN has taken note of the serious threat contained in Taniseb's email to the Bishop that the "proud Lutherans" will do the unthinkable if the two bishops fail to vacate the residences they occupy now. Unthinkable action can be interpreted as murder or physical harm, therefore we expect the Church Council to deal with this Elder of ELCRN decisively. We cannot have elders and pastors threatening and disrupting peace and tranquillity in the church at will.

It is the responsibility of the Church Council to ensure that peaceful members of the church are not forced into a situation where they have to defend themselves against the unthinkable. Deal with it now to avoid being haunted at a later stage.

God bless the ELCRN.
