In response to the letter of Anonymous: “Some of us are getting tired” on 14 Desember 2021:
Our president, Dr Hage Gottfried (Peace with God) Geingob is vaccinated and will soon receive his booster dose. He leads by example in the battle against Corona.
However, our adult vaccination rate is only about 20%. Herd immunity needs seventy percent. We are a long way off. The fourth wave of hesitant complacency is now gathering steam.
Information is knowledge, real choice, power and security, not Facebook info.
I am Obholzer, not Oberholzer. I qualified at the University of Cape Town in 1974, with Honours. I have more than forty years of public service experience behind me as Chief Medical Superintendent of the Windhoek State Hospital Complex and Chief Medical Officer in Anaesthetics (Theatre). I plough back!

Vaccines have been one of the modern scientific foundations of promotive and preventative health care, since before the Second World War.
Smallpox was eliminated by vaccination (victory). Imagine a word without vaccines for Polio, Whooping Cough, Measles, Tetanus, Diphtheria etc. It would be back to the Dark Ages for our children!
Unless we win control over Delta/Omicron, more variants will appear and our economy/tourism won’t recover. We will move from recession to depression and social-economic hardship.
The at risk groups, for complication are people over 60 years, the obese and diabetics, smokers, alcoholics, people with cardiac problems, cancer, those whose immunity are supressed and pregnant women. Ask your doctor for advice if you have valid health concerns.
Ninety percent of the hospital Covid-19 deaths were not vaccinated. Fact.
Illiterate people invest in a funeral policy, instead of a life policy.
The poor, fifty percent of the people (shack dwellers and shebeen customers) share hygiene challenges and Covid-19 contaminated air.
God has given you a mind, a conscience and freedom of choice. What use is a mind, if you don’t open it?
Ignorance is not bliss. It is a massive handicap.
Hesitate – health delayed is health denied.
Get vaccinated and experience a peaceful Xmas and 2022 .
